More than 1,000 girls experienced PUMM 2025: an experience to create technology with purpose

The PUMM | Programming a Better World was much more than an event: it was a transforming experience where more than 1000 girls between 13 and 23 years old met face-to-face and virtually to explore, create and think together possible futures with technology.

Held at the C Art Media of Buenos Aires and with a simultaneous virtual edition by YouTubethe PUMM 2025 was a technological innovation festival devised by girls from the CET Community and designed especially for them. During a day full of energy, creativity and inspiration, the young women were able to discover the power of building with others and the impact that technology can have when put at the service of transforming realities.

Creating with others: the heart of PUMM

Among the highlights was the HackaPUMMan express experience of creation in which five teams made up of young people from the CET community designed prototypes of technological solutions to respond to real challengeswith the accompaniment of professional mentors.
It was a collective demonstration of how ideas, collaboration, and technology can be combined to transforming the world with social impact.

Women who inspire futures

The Women Leaders Panel brought together three leading figures who shared their trajectories, lessons learned and inspirations with the participants:

  • Cecilia Galarzaengineer, professor and researcher at UBA and CONICET, expert in information processing for communications and sensing.
  • Julia MensaCEO at Nunatak Biotechwho showed how to combine science, innovation and nature-inspired technology to advance biotechnology and planetary health.
  • Solange Bagnasco, Data Governance IT Lead at Prisma Medios de Pagowho shared how to lead from a global perspective. data driven to promote strategic decisions based on information.

Their voices showed that there are many possible paths to professional growth in the tech world, and that the future is built on diversity, purpose and collaboration.

Spaces to learn, explore and imagine

During the PUMM, a total of 14 talks by girls for girlswhere young people from the CET community shared their experiences and learnings on topics such as cybersecurity, UX design, programming, project leadership y first steps in technology.

There were also 13 labs of exploration, games and immersive and interactive activitiesThe participants were invited to put creativity and teamwork into practice. Some of the proposals were:

  • Conquering the online street: gender(s) and digital citizenship

In addition, the girls enjoyed a immersive visual and sound experiencea artificial intelligence photo spotand a artistic intervention where historical women in science and technology -like Ada Lovelace, Marie Curie, Cecilia Grierson, Valentina Tereshkova, Grace Hopper and Elisa Bachofenamong others - "came back" to tell why they were key to the story and how they were paved the way for other women.

Technology with social impact

The event also included a school project fairwhere high school students presented science and technology initiatives that seek to improve their communities: garden automation, noise pollution control, urban tree care, biological mosquito controllers, 3D printed assistive devices, connection between people and nature through sound, and automated homes to improve energy efficiency, safety and comfort.

Community, collaboration and inspiration

The PUMM was made possible thanks to the joint work of the team of Girls in Technologytogether with Foundations y Teach for Argentinain the framework of a project co-financed by the European Unionand to the accompaniment of mentors, speakers, partner companies and organizations that are committed to a more egalitarian future.
