More than 80 girls from Argentina graduated from Data Analytics course

Free Data Analytics course for girls.

More than 80 young people from all over Argentina have completed a new edition of our Introduction to Data Analytics Course. A space for learning, but also for exploration, where data becomes a tool to understand reality.

Throughout 6 meetings, they not only incorporated theoretical concepts. They also worked with concrete data to analyze and propose solutions to real problems related to the world of work, the gender gap and social inequality. In the process, they learned to use Tableau, a tool that allowed them to visualize information and communicate findings in a clear, effective and strategic way.

In a sector where there is a lack of diverse voices, each training instance is also an opportunity to open doors. The girls who have completed this training now have more resources to develop as professionals. This is what happened with Milagros, who began her journey through Chicas en Tecnología in 2022 and today, at the age of 20, she is already working full time in the role of Data Analyst.

What is data analytics and what is it for?

Data analytics is the process of collecting, sorting and analyzing data to find patterns, generate insights and make better decisions. It is not just about numbers: it involves asking questions, interpreting information and translating it into concrete actions.

It helps to understand what is happening (for example, in a company, in the labor market or in a public policy), why it is happening and what can be done about it. In practice, it allows to detect problems, identify opportunities and design evidence-based solutions.

What is the difference between data analytics and data science?

Data analytics focuses on analyzing existing data to answer concrete questions and make decisions in the present. It works a lot with visualization, reporting and descriptive or diagnostic analysis.

Data science, on the other hand, goes a step further: it uses statistical models and machine learning to predict future scenarios or automate decisions. It is more experimental and technical, and involves building models that learn from data.

The gender gap in technology work

Learning data means training our critical eye, asking better questions and finding new ways to intervene in our surroundings. Today, only the 36% of people working in technology companies in Argentina are women. That is why, from Chicas en Tecnología we motivate more women from 13 to 23 years old to develop in IT. Free and in community.
