Chicas en Tecnología (CET) held the 11th edition of the festival Leading Girls in Technology, The event was free of charge, both in person and online, for young people between the ages of 13 and 23, where they enjoyed workshops, talks and interactive activities aimed at motivating them to explore technology as a tool for social change.
For the more than 1,000 teenagers and young people who attended the event at the Metropolitan Design Center (CABA), as well as for the 700 who followed it virtually, the meeting was a unique opportunity to discover together with specialists the latest developments in technology in intersection with different sectors such as education, health, art and fashion.
Explore to learn
The face-to-face workshops allowed hundreds of young people to learn and awaken their curiosity in a practical and friendly way about artificial intelligence, design thinking, digital communication with a gender perspective, fashion and algorithms, robotics, digital citizenship, technology and mental health, among other topics.
In addition, the nearly 20 stands from universities, businesses and civil society organizations in the central hall of the CMD gave the participants the opportunity to interact in a playful way with different scientific-technological advances with a social purpose.
They found technological applications for design and marketing, virtual reality helmets for road awareness, block programming games, 3D developments for education and health, robots with challenges, fact-checking tests and trivia on financial education.
Inspiring and innovative
Leading women in the sector gave talks and interviews, both in person and online, in which they addressed emerging issues related to technology such as robotics, sustainability, misinformation and entrepreneurship. They were: Marisabel Rodríguez, Agustina Paz, Pía Torres, Laura Benbenaste, Olivia Sohr, Mónica Buitrón and Natalia Pérez.
The event was hosted by journalist Julieta Schulkin and the communicator Lu Parrondo, both specialized in the tech world. The festival also featured live music by artists who fuse art and technology: Ignacia, Paula Pazos and Josefina Bonifacio.
Intersectoral approach for an inclusive ecosystem
This year, CET's initiative was carried out in partnership with Fundación Cimientos and Enseñá por Argentina, as part of the project “Strengthening the STEM careers of young women in Argentina”, co-financed by the European Union. During the festival, the organizations received a declaration of interest from the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires.
Chicas Líderes en Tecnología adopted a cross-sectoral approach with the participation of leading companies, universities, government entities and civil society organizations that allowed participants to explore and understand the social impact that scientific and technological developments can have.

The event was attended by public and private secondary schools, and 40 civil society organizations from Argentina and the region participated as a dissemination alliance, which amplified the event and made it possible to reach young people from diverse contexts.
