Chicas en Tecnología: regional expansion, growth and a new Board of Directors

As a further step in its consolidation process, Chicas en Tecnología welcomes its new Board of Directors. The people that make up this space work on the institutional strategy and accompany the Executive Board in its implementation. This renewal incorporates a team of professionals with extensive experience in the educational, entrepreneurial and technological fields -key to the mission of the organization- who have been contributing ideas, resources and energy to Chicas en Tecnología for years.

In May 2021, Chicas en Tecnología also renewed its Executive Management with the arrival of Paula Coto, after Melina Masnatta left her role to give way to a leadership that adds other knowledge and contributions to the interdisciplinary team of Chicas en Tecnología. The co-founders of Chicas en Tecnología: Carolina Hadad, Mariana Varela, Melina Masnatta and Sofía Contreras, trust in the potential of the new authorities to accompany the expansion of CET and bring more opportunities to young women in Latin America.

The new Board of Directors is formed by:
Anabella Lopez Clapier
39 years old, with a degree in Political Science from the University of Buenos Aires and 15 years of experience in sustainability. She currently works as Local Development Manager of the Foundation of the Argentine energy company YPF, whose purpose is to lead the transformation of the present to achieve a sustainable future, through human development initiatives focused on energy; and seeks to contribute to the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals with a view to the 2030 agenda.

Ariel Hache Merpert  
Designer of cultural and educational experiences
Educator, Multimedia Designer, Serializer and passionate about creativity and educational innovation for over 20 years focused on teenagers, specializing in new narratives and technologies. He is the executive director of Fundación Ideas que Transforman, organizer of TEDxRíodelaPlata and director of TED-Ed Clubs for Argentina. He created the Chequeado Education Program, where he developed initiatives and strategies to teach critical thinking to journalists and teenagers around the world. He also created, developed and implemented educational projects in community centers, schools, universities, international agencies and civil society organizations. He was part of the PENT team (Education and New Technologies Project) of FLACSO Argentina, was a teacher at CREA of ORT Argentina and a consultant for the implementation of technologies in the classroom.

Consuelo Lopez
Technology and software product management specialist with over 12 years of experience leading and expanding cross-functional teams, both in industry and academia, with expertise in software research and engineering. He currently serves as Product Manager at MuleSoft, a Salesforce Company.
She holds a degree in Information Systems Engineering from UTN - Facultad Regional Córdoba. In 2014 she received a scholarship from the Government of Argentina and Fulbright and completed her master's degree in Software Engineering at the University of California, Irvine.
She has been part of Chicas en Tecnología since the beginning of 2017, being part of the growth of the organization through the ideation and execution of our programs. Since then, she helps to strengthen the network of mentorxs and outreach to other communities in the world of technology. Since 2019, she is part of the team of columnists of La Liga de la Ciencia, a program dedicated to the scientific dissemination of public TV, where she spreads topics related to technology and the need for diversity of the teams that build it. Within MuleSoft, she is part of the Diversity Council, a committee whose focus is to institutionalize practices to promote diversity and inclusion within the company.

María Mérola - Ashoka Cono Sur Executive Director
Maria is an expert in public policy and international relations, and specialized in creating ecosystems to promote social innovators of diverse ages and contexts. In her 20s she was part of the creation of Asociación Civil Mujeres 2000, of which she was Executive Director. She co-created initiatives in Responde, Fundación Avina, and other public and private organizations. At Ashoka she promotes a world where all people are recognized as agents of change, hand in hand with the most outstanding social innovators. She is passionate about creativity as an engine to create a better world, about life in nature and everything that has to do with Uruguay, her country of origin.

Miriam Frias - Director of People & Culture at Shifta
Miriam is a specialist in culture processes, with more than 10 years of experience in the technology ecosystem.
As Director of People & Culture, she led cultural and structural changes at regional level in development companies. Co-designed research and development projects for high performance teams, based on people's competencies and potential. She co-developed labor inclusion projects, based on training and organizational awareness, helping more than 100 young people to overcome the access gap and reach their first job in IT.
Miriam is also co-founder of Shifta, a company dedicated to the creation of digital products with presence in three countries in the region, from where they also generate technological products with social impact such as ¨Salidas Inclusivas¨ and “Comé + Plantas”.
Above all, Miru, as she is known to her friends, believes faithfully in the mark she wants to leave on society: a more inclusive society where technology helps democratize opportunities, based on multimirada and collective construction.
