Marisol joined our team of referents after her daughter Sofía participated in PUMM and today she is part of Clubes CET Colegio Monseñor Solari where she was also a student. Know her story and why she chose to be part of Chicas en Tecnología.
Why did you join Chicas en Tecnología?
Because I consider the project to be brilliant and attractive. I wanted to add my contribution from Clubs, helping to meet one of the objectives, which is to reach as many teenagers as possible, to inspire them and make them aware that technology will empower their futures.
When did you join?
I joined when my daughter participated in Programando un Mundo Mejor in November 2016, in which I was dazzled by the proposal and organization. I was excited to learn that they were planning to expand the scope of the project, taking it to high schools and I had the privilege of being part of the first group of clubs.
What do you think is your value contribution to the organization's mission?
Transmit my passion for technology and join initiatives that allow teenage girls to realize the enormous potential they have to be creators of technology and not just users, which can provide them with better job opportunities in the future and unleash their creativity.
Why do you think it is important to have more women in the technology entrepreneurial environment?
It is important that there are more women in the technological entrepreneurial environment because diversity makes developments more comprehensive, creative and innovative, giving them the chance to influence economically and socially.
What is your role and what activities do you perform within Chicas en Tecnología?
I am a member of the Girls in Technology Club at Monsignor Solari School, where I am a former student and where my daughter currently attends. My role is to be the link between Chicas en Tecnología and the school. Additionally, I am the one who has carried out the meetings according to the pedagogical guide provided by Chicas en Tecnología. It makes me happy to see the graduates of the club in which I collaborated participating in the activities of the Community. I am still in contact with the organization and this year I participated as a volunteer in one of the workshops of the Cybersecurity event that was held at IBM in conjunction with the NGO.
Do you want to tell us something else you think is valuable to inspire more Girls in Tech to join?
They should join Chicas en Tecnología because they will find a network of people who are generous in sharing knowledge and opportunities, who invite us to be part of their ambitious project and accompany us on the path we take together. When I joined, I thought I would be inspiring young teenagers, but they managed to impact me in such a way that I decided to change my career, focusing on software development. Last year I got certified as a Java programmer and this year I am learning iOS App development. I consider myself a fan of Chicas en Tecnología, I am fascinated by how they are doing it, today already expanding to the interior of the country. Bravo!!!! It is a great pride for me to be part of this community.
